Back Clearing msconfig startup

While perusing the start-up programs through `msconfig', I find some unnecessary programs. I feel they should be removed because of spyware fears. How do I remove them?

I have already `unticked' them but I want to remove them permanently. Please suggest a solution.

If the Start Up entry is un-ticked in msconfig, then it has got removed from the Start Up entry in the registry and msconfig just remembers those entries in case you want to enable them at a later date.

If you want to remove these entries permanently, please do this: open the registry editor and navigate to the following location, HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig

Under this, you will see two subdivisions, startupfolder and startupreg. You will find here all the Start Up entries you disabled in MSConfig. Please delete all the keys you want to remove permanently.

One other way to remove the entries made by spywares is to install an anti-spyware tool and delete the entries highlighted by the tool.

This will remove the registry entries and all their related links.

Adaware SE is one good Anti-Spyware that you can download at http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html
