Vigilance SP gets threat calls

PATNA: State Vigilance Bureau Police Superintendent(SP) Ashok Kumar Singh, who is investigating into the Rs 17 crore flood relief scam, has received threat calls.

According to an FIR lodged by the SP in the Kotwali Police Station here, some criminals were trying to identify him allegedly with the help of the key accused in the scam during hearing of the case in the Patna High Court on Januray 27.

Meanwhile, some anonymous caller made telephone calls at his residence and threatened him of dire consequences. The caller allegedly patronised by the accused of the flood relief scam also used derogatory language.

The SP in the FIR disclosed that he had received threatening calls on several occasions since he had taken up the investigation in the scam.

The Additional Director General Vigilance Nilmani had been apprised of the situation who had taken up the matter with the Superintendent of Police, Patna and requested the latter to provide security cover to Mr Singh. - UNI
