Congressmen's charge against party MP

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: The constituency level meetings of the Congress for Kadiri and Nallamada constituencies held at Kadiri in the district on Sunday witnessed noisy scenes and discontentment against Hindupur MP D. Nizamuddin.

Party workers, particularly from Tanakallu and Nallamda mandals, charged the MP with awarding contracts under his MPLADS to followers of other parties.

They further alleged that the MP, since his election, had not visited Nallamada constituency even once. Besides, he was not available to party cadre, they charged.

Later, the partymen were calmed down by Minister for Agriculture and Civil Supplies N. Raghuveera Reddy and DCC president P. Venugopal Reddy. Mr. Nizamuddin maintained silence all the while. Meanwhile, party leaders including J.C. Diwakar Reddy and N. Raghuveera Reddy felt that the party functionaries had failed to take the Government's welfare schemes to the people. Free power to agriculture, waiver of farm power bill dues, Indiramma and rural employment guarantee schemes needed better publicity, they felt. District Congress Committee president P. Venugopal Reddy, Zilla Parishad Chairperson G. Thippeswamy, Anantapur MP A. Venkatarami Reddy, Kadiri legislator J. Ramaiah, Nallamada legislator K. Mohan Reddy and others participated in the meetings.
