ANANTAPUR: Sahiti Gaganmahal, an organisation set up by lovers of Indian heritage, culture and literature at Penukonda in the district, is making an effort to bring onto one platform outstanding personalities born in the district or living here and excelled in their chosen fields. The organisation plans to felicitate 25 persons chosen from different fields at a function to be held at Penukonda on February 4 in the name of "Anantha Aanimuthyalu." The awards were earlier given in 2000 and 2003. According to the president of Sahiti Gaganmahal the awardees this year are: Donakonda Hanumanna (science), P.L. Sanjeeva Reddy (administration), Kuntimaddi Sadananda (excellence abroad), Motilal B. Naik (judiciary), Y. Venkatrami Reddy (technical education), A.K. Khan (IPS) and Rani Kumudini Ismail (IAS). Besides I. Obaiah (freedom fighter), G. Balakrishna Reddy (armed forces), P. Rajeswara Rao (literature), Pallem Srinivasulu (handlooms), Sister Regina Thamma (voluntary service), Meda Narasimhulu (industries), Iliyas Seth (commitment to work), D. Madhavamurthy (sports), A.V. Ramanaprasad (ashtavadhanam) and U. Linga Reddy (agriculture). Additionally, P. Sampathkumar (medicine), C. Hanumantha Rao (folk arts), K.C. Krishna (performing arts), Babloo Ganguly (environmental protection), P. Madhusudhan (information), Urumula Naganna (folk dance), Yekkaluru Sriramulu (literature) and G. Manojkumar (child prodigy) will be felicitated.
