ALAPPUZHA: Youth Congress State president K.P. Anilkumar has demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of Sivagiri Dharmasanghom Trust's former president Swami Saswatikananda. Addressing pressperson here on Monday, Mr. Anilkumar said he would submit a memorandum to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in this regard. He alleged that a section of the State police was protecting the interests of the CPI(M) thinking that the LDF would come to power after the next Assembly polls. That section was now abetting anti-social elements with a view to disturbing the law and order situation in the State, he said. Mr. Anilkumar said the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan and BJP State president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai were speaking in the same voice regarding the steps being initiated by the State Government to fill the vacancies due to the backward communities in the Government service as found by the Narendran Commission. He said the CPI(M) criticism of the Government's decisions made on the basis of the Narendran Commission report without publicising its own opinion on the report was a cheap political propaganda. The CPI(M) thought that it could create communal tension in the State based on the findings of the report and wanted to capitalise on it. The State Government's decision had pre-empted the wicked plans of the CPI(M), he said.
