BANGALORE: A four-member gang waylaid two employees of a bakery and robbed them of two mobile phones, two wristwatches, a gold ring and cash in Kadugondanahalli police station limits in the early hours of Monday. The police said that around 1 a.m., Manje Gowda and Puttaraju, employees of a bakery in Hebbal, got down from a BMTC bus on Nagavara Ring Road. While they were walking towards a friend's house on Service Road, four-men stopped them and allegedly assaulted them. The robbers relieved the two of Rs. 530 and other articles. On a complaint by Manje Gowda and Puttaraju, hailing from Hassan district, the Kadugondanahalli police have registered a case.
Bag snatched
Two men riding a moped allegedly snatched a bag containing Rs. 500, a mobile phone and credit cards from a woman in Ashoknagar police station limits on Sunday. Police said that around 7.45 p.m. the two snatched the bag from Vahini while she was crossing the road near D'Souza Circle on Richmond Cross. The Ashoknagar police have registered a case.
Bag stolen
A bag containing Rs. 2 lakhs in cash and jewellery was allegedly stolen from a shop in Vijayanagar police station limits on Sunday night. Shankar, who runs a provision shop in Subbanna Garden, had reportedly kept the bag on a table in the shop. Around 7 p.m. when Shankar was about to close the shop, his employee Ravi allegedly made away with the bag, containing jewellery and cash, police said. Ravi was working at the shop for the past 40 days. On a complaint by Shankar, the Vijayanagar police have registered a case.
Woman killed
Jayalakshmamma (25) of Gangasandra was killed when a BMTC bus hit the motorcycle on which she was riding pillion with her husband in Kengeri on Sunday. Police said the accident occurred around 7.30 p.m. near the BMTC bus depot in Kengeri. Jayalakshmamma's husband Sreenivas and daughter Bhavana (2) suffered injuries. The Byatarayanapura traffic police have registered a case.
Vehicles recovered
The Magadi Road police on Sunday arrested five persons and recovered from them eight motorcycles, eight bicycles and two car stereos, together worth Rs. 3 lakhs. The police gave the names of the arrested as Padmanabha (19) and Kiran (18) of 6th Block, Rajajinagar, Lokesh (18) and Rajesh (18) of K.P. Agrahara, and Raja (32) of Channapatna. In another case, the Malleswaram police on Sunday arrested Manjunath (22) of Manjunathnagar on charges of vehicle theft and recovered from him a motorcycle worth Rs. 40,000. The accused had stolen the motorcycle that was parked in front of a house on Sampige Road, the police said.
