Back HC vacates interim order on Emami

MR Justice K.J. Sengupta of Calcutta High Court today vacated the interim order dated January 25, 2006, restraining Emami Ltd from using the name of Activor Corporation USA on the packet of its product "Fair & Handsome", the fairness cream for men.

While vacating the interim order the Court directed for filing affidavits. The matter will be heard after eight weeks.

Earlier, a commercial organisation filed a suit challenging use of name of Activor by Emami and obtained an ex parte interim order.

It was alleged in the suit that Emami was wrongly using the logo of Activor.

The Court has asked Emami to keep a separate account for the sale of the product in question.
