BANGALORE: Three persons were killed in as many road accidents in the city on Wednesday. Chakrapani (28), a pedestrian, was killed after a motorcycle hit him around 10.15 p.m. on Chord Road in Vijayanagar. The Vijayanagar traffic police have seized the motorcycle and arrested its rider. Bhaskar (25) was killed when a jeep hit his motorcycle in Banaswadi police station limits on Wednesday night. The accident occurred near the Indian Oil Corporation flyover, the police said. Bhaskar was a resident of Satyanagar in Banaswadi. Ravi (30) was killed when a goods vehicle hit the car he was driving on Hosur Road, off Hongasandra, on Wednesday. Ravi was a resident of Garvebavipalya. The Madivala traffic police have registered a case.
Woman duped
Two men, posing as gold ornament polishers, cheated an elderly woman and made away with her gold jewellery estimated at Rs. 80,000 in Cottonpet police station limits on Wednesday. The police said two Gujarati-speaking men came to Zulekha's house on T.M.C. Royan Road on Wednesday and introduced themselves as gold polishers. Zulekha (60), a Gujarati, gave them eight gold bangles and a ring for polishing. The two asked her to get turmeric powder. When she went inside the house, the two escaped with her jewellery, the police said. The Cottonpet police have registered a case.
CDs seized
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) staff on Wednesday raided two shops in Thyagarajanagar police station limits and seized 1,120 pirated VCDs, estimated at Rs. 1.12 lakhs. The police arrested owners of the two shops, K. Ramesh (28) and S. Shivaprasad (19), on charges of selling pirated VCDs.
