FAB City project: all-round applause for Chief Minister

`State will emerge as the real hi-tech manufacturing hub of India' The real credit for this far-reaching milestone achieved by the State goes to the people, says Dr. Reddy

HYDERABAD: A day after the State bagged the prestigious facility for manufacture of semiconductors, greetings began pouring in for Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Vinod Khosla, leading venture capitalist and NRI, Mike Splinter, president and CEO, Applied Materials Limited, a semiconductor equipment company, Raj Singh of Indian Electronic Manufacturing Company (Silicon Valley), Anil Agarwal, CEO of Vedanta Resources Limited, London and a cross section from the trade, commerce and industry complimented

Dr. Reddy in a statement issued here on Friday said the real credit for this far reaching milestone achieved by the State goes to the people, who had been supportive of the Government's action.

Proposals confirmed

He urged all the well-wishers of the State to impress upon the multi-national companies and corporates to bring investments in electronic manufacturing and education in India.

He said Andhra Pradesh would emerge as the real hi-tech manufacturing hub of India for semiconductors and IT hardware industries with the establishment of FAB City.

He pointed out that SEM India, Nano Tech Silicon India Limited, Cyprus Semiconductors Limited have confirmed their proposals to set up FABs in the proposed FAB City.

The establishment of IT companies in the State would open up opportunities for electronics, electrical, computer sciences, engineering technology and communications.

He called upon the educational institutions to gear up and prepare an action plan to train students so that their chances of securing employment in the proposed facilities were high.
