HYDERABAD: Here is a set of 25 "brief, crisp, to the point and compact" stories drawn from fables and folktales that make mastering leadership everyman's affair. Not biographies or abstract theories, these commonsense tales transcending generations, have been strung together in a leadership book "21 Leadership Lessons Through Ancient Wisdom for Incredible Success" published by Kasyapa Academy of Leadership.
The authors
First time authors, city hotelier, Murali K. Reddy, Managing Director of Green Park Groups of Hotels and a former Management Professor at S. V. University, Tirupati, K. Seshaiah have used simple, practical yet fascinating stories to put together a three part framework to "Secure, Sustain and Strengthen" leadership for the social worker, the businessman, the politician or the professional, the housewife or the working parent. The student-professor duo hopes that every L(r)eader will treasure these stories. The idea is to show everyone what it takes to become a leader at work and at home. "Everyone can aspire to become a leader. The theory that leaders are born is worn out," they say. Talking to the press on Friday, Mr. Reddy and Mr. Seshaiah said there are many books on leadership, but the real need is for simple ideas that can come handy for a layperson. And here, nuggets from Panchtantra, Aesop fables, Ramayana and Mahabharata bring incisive insights to potential leaders. The book ends with a self-evaluation questionnaire that helps you assess the leader in you."It cannot guarantee you success but it will make it harder- much harder - for you to fail," pen the authors in the preface.
