Gopi, Surya triumph

KODAIKANAL: P. Gopi of Central Excise, Tiruchi and L. Surya of Pudukottai District Athletic Association won the men's and women's titles respectively in the Tamil Nadu state cross country championship organised by Dindigul District Athletic Association here on Saturday.

W.I. Davaram, president of Tamil Nadu Athletic Association flagged off the race and gave away the prizes too.

The results: Men (12 km): 1.P. Gopi (CE, Tiruchi) 39:37.39 s. 2. M. Padmanaban(S. Rly, Tiruchi), 3.T. Poovendran (Kovai Athletic Club, CBE), 4. C. Sivakumar (S. Rly, Tiruchi), 5. R. Subbiah (Tuticorin Police), 6. R. Govindasamy (Tamil Nadu Commandos Force, Chennai).

Boys (8 km): 1. M. Alagesan (Pudukottai D.A.A) 29:04.07s, 2.R. Sivakumar (Kovai Athletic Club), 3. R. Kirupanandan (S. Rly, Tiruchi).

Women (8 km): 1. L. Surya (Pudukottai D.A.A) 31:39.6s, 2.K. Maheshwari (Nirmala College, CBE), 3. S. Sujitha (S. Rly, Tiruchi), 4. Sudha (S. Rly, Tiruchi), 5.K. Maheshwari (Erode D.A.A), 6.R. Archana (Kovai Athletic Club).

Girls (6 km): 1.R. Nachiar Alex Revathy (S. Rly, Tiruchi) 18:21.0s, 2.G. Ruba Devi (Lion Matric School, Erode), 3.P. Lavanya (Universal Sports Foundation, Chennai).
