HYDERABAD: It was with justifiable satisfaction that Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Jaju made a presentation to the visiting delegation from Gujarat regarding civic initiatives and pro-active measures being carried out in the twin cities here on Thursday. A delegation of chairpersons of seven municipal corporations and officials from Gujarat headed by Minister for Urban Development and Urban Housing Indravijay Sinh Jadeja came here to visit the Centre for Good Governance and to interact with the Municipal Corporation, HUDA and State Housing Board officials during their three-day stay. Mr. Jadeja said that from what they had seen so far, the city impressed them with IT initiatives and greenery. It was also free of posters and graffiti, he said. Giving an elaborate presentation, Mr.Jaju explained that 40 per cent of the corporation's capital works were taken up in the city's 800 slums. Its IT initiative offering various online services included payment of bills, taxes, registration of births and deaths, etc. The MCH website gave all information about infrastructure works, approved building plans, etc. The Fund Your Concept launched by MCH evoked good response to take up and maintain public amenities like Foot Over Brides, installation and maintenance of traffic signals, junction improvements, road medians, footpaths, public toilets and glow signs.
