CBI arrests bank fraud accused

Andhra Bank Chamarajpet branch cheated of Rs. 45 lakhs during 1994-97

Bangalore: F. Don Bosco, Director of J.J. Fashion Studio Pvt. Ltd., who hasbeen reported absconding since the registration of a bank fraud case against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), was arrested on February 9 at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, on the basis of a "look out circular" issued by the CBI.

According to a press release from Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI here on Thursday, the bureau in Kolkata was directed to arrest the accused on receipt of information.

On Monday, on the strength of the transit remand issued by the Executive Magistrate, Barrackpore, Bosco was brought to the city on Wednesday and produced before the Additional City Civil and Sessions Judge and Special Judge for CBI cases. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody till February 22.

During 1994-97, Bosco, in connivance with A.E. Devendranath, the then branch manager of Andhra Bank, Chamarajpet, had cheated the bank by "wilful misrepresentation and concealment of material facts" in the matter of financing J.J. Fashion Studio Pvt. Ltd. to the tune of Rs. 45 lakhs. Bosco and J.J. Fashion Studio were cited as accused in the case filed by the City Crime Branch, Bangalore, on February 7, 1997, the release added.
