DUTA dharna for appointment of Pay Commission

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: To press its demand for setting up the sixth Pay Commission and a pay review committee, the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) will be staging a demonstration here on Wednesday.

DUTA's longstanding demand for restoration of professorship in colleges and third promotions will be raised once again at the demonstration to be staged outside the offices of the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development.

Also put forward will be the case for restoring parity of librarians with teachers and parity of professors with principals. While urging that the retirement age of teachers be raised to 65 years, the teachers have also asked for an amendment in the study leave rules.

Some of the other issues to be taken up are better medical facilities, change in the composition of selection committees, withdrawal of the 85 per cent cap on teaching posts and de-freezing of non-teaching staff appointments.

The teachers are also demanding better housing and hostel facilities, improved provisions for the families of teachers killed while carrying out their duty and withdrawal of the proposed takeover of the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) by the Delhi Government.
