Back `India could be global leader in productivity' Our Bureau
Lord Swaraj Paul
New Delhi , Feb. 22 LORD Swaraj Paul said on Monday that India could be proud of its human resource as it had the pool of a large, capable young population. Speaking at a function organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on `Making India Globally Competitive', he said, "Once India accepts the spirit and the benefits of competitiveness and as it already has the talented, young and well educated population, it has every possibility of being a leader in productivity in the world." What India should be doing is giving young university graduates sufficient encouragement to take chances and demonstrate their abilities, he said. Speaking about law and order, he said it was very important in the working environment. "People should have the confidence to be able to move about freely. Lack of confidence here will cause loss of productivity," he said. "To enable India to be globally competitive, there has to be a joint endeavour between Government, business and its citizens," he added.
