CHENNAI: The joint council of action of all Central Government employees, which met in New Delhi on February 15, decided to defer the indefinite strike move for two months in view of an agreement reached between the Government and employees' unions. According to general secretary of the All-India Railwaymen's Federation J.P. Chaubey, who is also the convener of the joint council of action, the Government agreed to concede a majority of demands, including setting up of Sixth Pay Commission. The JCA will meet after two months to review the progress of steps taken by the Government in the implementation of their demands and decide on further course of action.
Interim relief
Central Government employees in the State staged slogan-shouting demonstrations in front of their offices on Wednesday urging sanction of Rs. 1,000 as interim relief.
