A petition had been filed against the Minister on violation of court order

Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court has dropped contempt proceedings against Minister for Fisheries and Muzrai Nagaraj Shetty and others.

The order dropping the contempt proceedings was passed by a Division Bench comprising Justice N.S. Veerabhadraiah and Justice N. Ananda.

A petition had been filed in the court challenging the amendment made to the bylaws of CAMPCO in Mangalore by Sankappa Rai, who is one of its members.

The elections to CAMPCO were also challenged.

The High Court, while allowing the writ petition, ordered conduct of fresh elections.

The C-category directors of CAMPCO were directed not to take any policy decision until the conduct of the elections.

Mr. Rai had filed a contempt petition against Mr. Shetty, who also is a director of CAMPCO, alleging that despite the order, policy decisions were taken.

Contempt petitions were also filed against the president and other directors.

Mr. Rai said that the actions of the directors amounted to gross violation of the court order.

However, it was brought to the notice of the court that the order of the single judge had been set aside by the Division Bench and, hence, the contempt petition could not survive.

The Division Bench took note of the submission and dropped contempt proceedings against the Minister and others.
