101st anniversary of Rotary International

Special postal cover released on the occasion

CHENNAI: Principal Postmaster General Vatsala Raghu on Thursday released the special postal cover on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the Rotary International.

The release of the cover in her presence was a significant event as the Department of Posts recently celebrated 150 years of service, she said.

The Postal Department also had a very wide network that transcended international borders and was socially committed.

Dr. Shyam Sundar, receiving the first copy, said the Rotary Club was founded on February 23, 1905 by Paul Harris in Chicago, Illinois. "168 countries are now having Rotary Clubs."

Rotary was now turning towards literacy and health care, he said. President of Rotary Club of Chennai East, R.A. Puram, M.S. Ramakrishnan, M. Balaji, S. Krishnaswami and other Rotarians participated.
