BANGALORE: Four persons broke into a house on the outskirts of the city, assaulted the occupants, and took away cash, jewellery and valuables estimated at Rs. 1 lakh in Koramangala Police Station limits early on Thursday. The police said the victims, Amit Bhattacharya, his wife Sharmila Bhattacharya and their child were sleeping in the bedroom on the first floor of their house at RBD Layout, off Sarjapur Road, when they heard the sound of breaking open of cupboards on the ground floor. When they came down and tried to stop the intruders, the assailants attacked them. The intruders consumed food and drinks kept at the house without any fear after threatening the Bhattacharyas, the police said. The victims said the assailants were in the 30-35 age group. The Koramangala police have registered a case and are investigating.
House burgled
A house was burgled in J.C. Nagar police station limits on Wednesday and a sum of Rs. 5,000 and a gold chain were taken away. In his complaint, the victim, Martui, said he had gone out after locking the doors on Monday when the burglars entered the house. The J.C. Nagar police have registered a case and are investigating.
Student killed in accident
An MBA student was killed on the spot when a sports utility vehicle hit him on Kasturinagar 2nd Main on Wednesday night. The police gave the name of the victim as T. Naveen (21), resident of Jai Jawan Nagar. The victim was in a part-time job and was studying MBA, the police said. The K.R. Puram Traffic Police have registered a case and are investigating.
