AP plea on CVD relief rejected

The Finance Ministry has not acceded to the request of the Andhra Pradesh Government for exempting customs duty/countervailing duty on the goods imported for the upcoming Hyderabad International Airport project. The State Government had urged the Finance Ministry to give import duty exemption on goods imported for the Hyderabad Airport project. The Rs 1,663 crore project is expected to become operational in the first quarter of 2008. Hyderabad International Airport Ltd is a joint venture company promoted by GMR Group (63 per cent stake), Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad (11 per cent), Andhra Government (13 per cent) and Airports Authority of India (13 per cent).
