HYDERABAD: Maharashtra has re-started work on the construction of Babli project in the wake of a fall in the level of water in the Godavari. The storage in Sriramasagar fell to 1071 ft and, as a consequence, its backwaters, which so far prevented the works, have receded. A team of officials from Nizamabad, which visited the site on Thursday, confirmed that work had begun. After Major Irrigation Minister P. Lakshmaiah reviewed the issue here, an Andhra Pradesh team headed by C.V.S.K. Sarma, Principal Secretary, Irrigation, lodged a complaint with the Union Ministry of Water Resources and the Central Water Commission against Maharashtra.
