Chappell violated BCCI regulation, says CAB

KOLKATA: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has said that Indian cricket team coach Greg Chappell had violated the `Regulation for Players and Team Officials' adopted by the BCCI by making `derogatory statements' about the former captain Sourav Ganguly.

The state body took a decision to formally protest at this act by the coach in a working committee meeting on Friday evening, where the issue was taken up as a special agenda.

The president of the CAB, Jagmohan Dalmiya, said after the meeting that the secretary of the state body will be issuing a official letter to BCCI informing that Chappell had violated the restriction contained in Clause 3.2.9 of the Regulation for Players and Team Officials adopted by BCCI in 2000.

The state association will also seek to know what action BCCI will be taking against the coach for the breach of the referred code, Mr. Dalmiya informed.

Saying that it was the third such attack by Chappell against the former captain, Mr. Dalmiya said, "when such attacks persist, it makes it a very difficult situation for a player like Ganguly, especially when he is fighting to make a comeback." — Sports Reporter
