Another magazine dedicated to movies

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: You have all those filmy glossies screaming out aloud the inside stories of films and film stars, movies that hit it big on the screens and those that disappeared without a whimper.

While the magazines in the local language cater to the regional movie buffs, the English glossies have a pan-Indian appeal.

Well, now you can spot one more of those English magazines. But the brain behind "South Movie Scenes" (SMS) tells you this is different.

Prathibha, the editor, tells us her journal will give the reader a ringside view of movies south of the Vindhyas.

And so, if you want that little tid-bit about Kannada, Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam film, watch out for "SMS."

The 48-page monthly was launched here on Monday.

The event was nothing big and but it was indeed a moment for young Prathibha to cherish.

Kannada actress of yore Leelavathi did a cameo appearance at the event, formally inaugurating the first issue of SMS.

With her SMS on the stands, Prathibha is hoping the magazine's circulation will be upwardly "mobile."
