BANGALORE: The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) will clear encroachments on pavements of Airport Road, 12th Main Road in Indiranagar and Jeevanabheemanagar, which have been upgraded by the Karnataka Land Army Corporation (KLAC) recently.

During an inspection of the progress of work on IT/BT corridor road taken up under the `Fast Track' project, on Thursday, BMP Commissioner K. Jothiramalingam and a team of officials found a number of unauthorised shops on the pavements. "We cannot allow such unauthorised structures on upgraded pavements. All encroachments will be removed between March 14 and 17," the Commissioner told The Hindu.

Pointing out that the quality of roadwork is satisfactory, the Commissioner said the KLAC authorities have promised that they will complete the work within the stipulated deadline. He said he has instructed the KLAC to make some "profile corrections" around the trees on the pavements that have been upgraded.
