Worker electrocuted

VISAKHAPATNAM: A contract worker of AP Transco was electrocuted while attending to maintenance work at the 400 kv Kalapaka sub-station near NTPC Simhadri on Thursday.Pyla Venkata Rao, 28, who received 90 per cent burns in the accident died later at Visakha Steel General Hospital. Under Workmen's Compensation Act, the family of the victim would get Rs.2.5 lakhs. - Staff Reporter

Raw deal alleged

HYDERABAD: The SC, ST and BC Doctors' Association has expressed concern at the denial of over 130 MBBS seats during the last three years to the reserved category candidates in violation of G.O. 167, which relates to implementing rule of reservations in PG medical courses. HYDERABAD: The Singareni Collieries Employees' Union has criticised the management's attempts to remove thousands of workmen in the name of VRS. M. Saibabu, president, and B. HYDERABAD: The CPI(M) State Committee has urged the Government to release the recommendations made by the official committee on land problems faced by tribals. State secretary B.V.
