BANGALORE: Two merchants, who were praying near a church, were assaulted and robbed of a bag containing Rs. 25,000 in cash in Antarapalya in the Yeshwanthpur police station limits on Saturday. According to the police, Biju George and Antony, closed their shops at the RMC Yard for the day and boarded a BMTC bus to reach their houses in Antarapalya. They got off the bus and stopped near a church to pray. Even as they were praying, two persons attacked them and took away a bag. After running down the road for a distance, the culprits returned to the church, threatened the merchants and forced them to part with the bag that contained the cash, the police said.
Robbed
A private company employee was threatened and robbed of his mobile phone, gold chain, and Rs. 20,000 in cash in Vidyaranapura on Saturday. According to the police, Girish, the complainant, got off a bus and was walking back home when two persons waylaid him and threatened him with a knife before taking away his mobile phone, cash and gold chain.
Assaulted
A constable, Ramaswamy, returning home to attend to his ailing daughter was attacked by two persons on Mysore Road on Saturday, according to police.
