  • Residents associations complained that police have not solved several grievances

BANGALORE: Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-East) M. Abdullah Saleem on Tuesday said the police will be better equipped to address the traffic problems of Adugodi sub-division, particularly BTM Layout, MICO Layout and Bannerghatta Road, with the establishment of two new traffic police stations.

After hearing traffic-related grievances of the residents of Adugodi traffic sub-division, Mr. Saleem said the State Government has posted inspectors for the newly created MICO Layout and Wilson Garden traffic police stations, which have started functioning from March 1.

He hoped that with in a month's time, subordinate staff will be posted and the two new police stations will function with more strength.

Representatives of residents associations coming under the Adugodi traffic sub-division complained that the police had not solved several grievances they had aired in the previous meetings.

Ashok Kumar of Spandana Nagarika Vedike complained that residents of 2nd Stage, BTM, are finding it difficult to cross the road near the Central Silk Board junction.

The matter was brought to the notice of senior police officials earlier and no steps have been taken to solve the problem. The residents may even take to the streets to get their problem solved, Prof. Ashok Kumar said.

A representative of Shanthinagar Residents Association urged the police to construct high-rise pedestrian crossing (foot-over bridge) on Kengal Hanumanthiya Road (Double Road) and elevated road humps near Basappa Circle.

    Headlights

Ramesh of 9th Block, Jayanagar, explained how the vehicles, particularly lorries and private buses, with high beam headlights are contributing to accidents in his area.

A representative of Jayanagar 4th T Block Residents Association said that the roads and pavements in his area have been encroached by a private educational institution. Scores of vehicles, buses as well as two-wheelers, belonging to the institution are parked all over the road and pavements, he said.

The representative of Koramangala 8th Block Residents Association urged the police to get the Madivala market shifted as it was resulting in traffic congestion.

Mr. Saleem said shifting the market has become a contentious issue and the matter has been discussed even in the high-level meeting of the Traffic Task Force.
