Held on theft charge

VISAKHAPATNAM: Sheik Md. Sameer (22) of Guntur was arrested here on Thursday by the Special Task Force on the charges of committing fraud and robbery.

According to the police Sameer joined a construction company in Hyderabad in August 2005. There he allegedly stole the cash kept in the office and a couple of credit cards belonging to the employees. Since then he had formed a gang by recruiting five or six boys and indulged in theft of credit cards, the police said.

He was regularly shuttling between cities like Hyderabad, Chennai and Visakhapatnam on flights. His modus operandi was to befriend co-passengers and relieve them of their credit cards.
