The school fails to get hall tickets

  • The private school has no government recognition
  • Arrangements were made earlier for the students to write the examination through some recognised schools
  • The students are likely to be allowed to appear for the supplementary examination

BIJAPUR: Twenty-five students of M.G. Patil Proudhashale, a private educational institution at Kokatnur village in Sindagi taluk, could not appear for the SSLC examination which began on Thursday as the school management failed to get them hall tickets.

The students and parents met Deputy Director of Public Instruction Bhaskar Bhat here on Friday and complained that the school management had collected Rs. 1,000 each from them, promising that they will be given hall tickets before the examination. The head of the school left for Bangalore last week saying that he will arrange for hall tickets. However, he did not return. Efforts to contact him went in vain, they said.

However, according to sources, the official expressed his helplessness as the examination is underway.

Mr. Bhat told The Hindu that these students might be allowed to write the supplementary examination in June. However, there is a technical hurdle as the examination is meant for unsuccessful students. Yet, efforts will be made to consider it as a special case. However, a decision in this regard has to be taken at the top level.

He said the school has no government recognition. It has not paid the security deposit of Rs. 50,000 with the board, and as a result, it did not get the examination code. Primary investigation revealed that the school management used to make arrangements for the students to write the examination through other recognised institutions. But this time it failed to do so because of the strict enforcement of rules.

    Debarred

In the Mathematics examination held on Friday, 25 students, eight each in Sindagi taluk and Basavanabagewadi and nine in Indi taluk, were debarred after they were caught copying, Mr. Bhat said.
