Government to felicitate Kumble, Dravid

Rahul Dravid too to be honoured at a function in the Vidhana Soudha

BANGALORE: The Government will felicitate Anil Kumble at a gala function to be held in the Banquet Hall of the Vidhana Soudha on achieving the 500-wicket mark in Test cricket. Minister for Youth Services and Sports Alkod Hanumanthappa stated this in the Legislative Assembly, which adopted a resolution congratulating the bowler on Friday.

Along with Anil Kumble, the Indian team captain, Rahul Dravid, too will be felicitated.

Revenue Minister Jagadish Shettar praised Anil Kumble for his achievement and said the Government will provide land to him to set up a cricket academy. He will discuss the issue with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Mr. Shettar said.

Members cutting across party lines lauded the spinner's 10-wicket haul against Pakistan in a Test innings in New Delhi a few years ago.
