Back AIBEA to protest core banking plan

The General Secretary of the All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), Mr. C. V. Venkatachalam, has charged the Government of politicising the Core Banking Solution (CBS) initiative. `Without proper preparation, the banks are plunging into the CBS platform. The Government is pressuring the banks to go online, to rope more branches to the centralised network. The value of the customer is ignored and he is the ultimate sufferer,' he told Business Line. The AIBEA is in the process of building a tough resistance programme including repetitive strikes to protest against the proposed move to outsource normal banking services. "We are planning to go on a day's protest strike in May. The national campaign would, however, start much earlier. But beginning July, we propose to launch a series of continuous strike," he said
