New Delhi , March 19

The Chairman of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, Dr C. Rangarajan, has said that any overlap between the sector-specific regulators and Competition Commission of India (CCI) should be minimised, as it could delay the decision-making process.

Speaking at a workshop on `Competition Assessment and Regulatory Impact Analysis: Instruments for Competition Advocacy' organised by the CCI jointly with Department for International Development, FIAS, and World Bank, here he said, "The existence of a large number of regulators, together with the CCI, may raise issues of overlap with unintended problems of forum-shopping and delayed decision-making."

He said sectoral regulators have been established for the capital market, insurance etc.
