CHENNAI: iGATE Global Solutions has proposed to hire over 100 Information Technology (IT) professionals from Dindigul through campus recruitment for its software development facility in Chennai. The business process outsourcing unit , with about 600 professionals in the city, has invested over Rs. 60 crore in its Chennai facility. The company has identified the Chennai facility for creation of `Centre of Excellence' for J2EE and .NET competencies. "The centre will focus on developing cutting edge applications for the manufacturing vertical. We will also invest in training and knowledge management to enable the Centre of Excellence model," said V. Viswanathan, assistant vice president - IT Solutions, iGATE, Chennai. Chennai was chosen because Tamil Nadu was home to a large number of technical institutes and ensured adequate supply of high quality technical resources, he said. From an operating cost perspective too, Chennai, when compared to other metropolitan cities in the country, was an ideal destination for software service vendors, Mr. Viswanathan said.
