FACT CMD to head regional council of FAI

KOCHI: The Chairman and Managing Director of FACT has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) Southern Region.

The election was held at the annual meeting of the FAI Regional Committee held at Ambalamedu. FAI is the apex body of all fertiliser manufacturers in the public, joint, cooperative and private sectors which provide a common forum for manufacturers of fertilisers and fertiliser raw materials, agricultural scientists and technologists promoting the use of balanced fertilisers for maximum productivity.

Representatives of the fertiliser manufacturers in South India attended the meeting.

The committee meeting evaluated the general agricultural conditions prevailing in South India, availability of fertilisers, water storage level in major reservoirs, etc. It was assessed that monsoon had been generally good in all the four southern States and there was no shortage of fertilisers.

The conditions would be favourable to augment a bumper harvest in the coming crop season.

Mr.Gopala Pillai presided over the meeting. R.C. Gupta, Deputy Director General, FAI, M. Remold, Regional Executive, FAI, D.N. Pradhan, Director (Finance), FACT, George Sleeba, Executive Director (Marketing), FACT, and others attended the meeting.
