Back UK bid to market economic strength Our Bureau
Kolkata , March 25 A five-year strategy for a step-change in the Government's drive to market the strengths of the UK economy internationally is all set to be announced by the British Government before the impending summer. The strategy will focus on high growth countries of strategic importance such as India and China. The Acting Deputy British High Commissioner in Eastern India, Mr. Kevin McCole, said here that the UK was well poised to meet the challenges and opportunities of globalisation and especially the opportunities in India and China. The five-year strategy would form the basis of a partnership between all UK Government departments and agencies, and numerous UK private sector bodies active in this field. Mr. McCole said the British Government was committed to doing more to promote London as a centre for financial and business services so that the city could play successfully in an integrated global economy. Moreover, key stakeholders in London's financial sector were keen on joining forces with the Government to promote London as the world's leading international financial centre, he pointed out.
