Back Cathay Pacific to fly twice-a-week freighter

The Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific airline is to start a twice-a-week freighter flight on the Hong Kong-Mumbai-Chennai-Hong Kong sector from June 2 .

"The flight will be operated with a Boeing 747-200 aircraft and will offer about 100 tonnes of capacity. This will also be the first time that the airline will be operating a turnaround freighter flight from India," said the airlines Country Manager, India, Nepal and Bangladesh, Mr Rupert Bray.

The start of the new flight is part of the airline's strategy to increase cargo capacity to and from India. The airline, which operates freighter flight three times a week on both the Mumbai-Paris and Delhi-London sectors, plans to increase the frequency of the Mumbai-Paris freighter flight.

Cathay Pacific, which operates passenger flights to Delhi and Mumbai, is also keen to fly to more Indian cities.
