Finance Minister all praise for Chitra Narayanaswamy

CHENNAI: The Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, paid encomiums to the late president of the Madras Stock Exchange, Chitra S. Narayanaswamy, at the centenary celebration on Sunday.

Mr. Chidambaram started off by saying that said he could not claim to be a friend of Mr. Narayanaswamy or a visitor to his house. But, later went on to explain in depth the personality of the late figure. Mr. Narayanaswamy joined Pachaiyappa's College to study mathematics as an undergraduate. But discontinued as he did not like the course. "The man who hated the subject became the most successful stockbroker," Mr. Chidambaram noted, and went on to recall Mr. Narayanaswamy's association with numerous organisations and institutions in the city.
