Back Reliance Info upgrades roaming Our Bureau
Mumbai , March 29 Reliance Infocomm has launched an international roaming service which will enable its customers to use their own telephone number to roam across GSM and CDMA networks. The inter-standard roaming service is the first to be offered by any operator in the country, said a news release from the company. Earlier, customers would have to get their calls forwarded when they travelled from a CDMA to a GSM network, as well as the other way around. Also their caller line identification of such a customer would not be the same as his/own Reliance number. The new service does away with these inconveniences. However, the new service entails a change of handset. The customer has to get a SIM card and a GSM handset for roaming into GSM networks. A CDMA handset will allow him to roam into CDMA networks. Reliance Infocomm is calling this its `1World.1Number' service.
