Back `IBM leads in revenue market share in Q4'

IBM led the overall server market in India in the fourth quarter of 2005 with 10.1 points factory revenue market share lead over its closest competitor, according to IDC's Asia/Pacific Quarterly Enterprise Server Tracker. The company was the leading vendor in the country across major market segments — x86, non-x86 (UNIX), Linux and x86 Blades in revenue terms.

It also led the overall disk storage with 23.7 per cent market share and 81.6 per cent year-on-year growth, according to IDC. IBM's revenue share of the market increased by 6.9 points in the fourth quarter compared to the same period in 2004.

IBM usurped its nearest competitor to lead in the UNIX space with 36.3 per cent factory revenue market share and a growth rate of 21.1 per cent year-on-year. In the x86 server space, it maintained its leadership position for the third consecutive quarter with 39.8 per cent market share.

In the Linux & x86 Blade servers' space, it dominated with 41.1 per cent and 78.4 per cent revenue market shares.
