Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in Melur SS Area, Foreshore Estate on April 4 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. for maintenance work. Supply will be resumed before 5 p.m. if the work is completed.

BSNL customer

service centre

BSNL Chennai Telephones has commissioned a new Customer Service Centre at Poonamallee Telephone Exchange for the benefit of about 10,000 consumers in the area that includes Tirumizhisai, Tiruverkadu and Poonamallee.

Office-bearers elected

The annual general body meeting of the Mylapore Club was held recently. The new office-bearers are M.A.M. Ramaswamy (president), N.C. Sundararajan (vice-president), J.R Sethuramalingam (honorary secretary) and V.K. Raman (honorary treasurer).

College day

celebrated

The Dhanraj Baid Jain College, Thorapakkam celebrated its college day evening stream on Sunday. Anne Mary Fernandez, Registrar, University of Madras, said that students should improve their communication, technical, social orientation and academic skills. C. Arunachalam, Principal presented the annual report for 2005-06. About 100 students were given prizes for their academic excellence. Secretary and Correspondent Harish L. Metha was also present.

Computer awareness programme

Sevalaya, a charitable organisation will be conducting a one-month long free computer awareness class for the benefit

of rural youth.

The classes will commence from April 23, at its service centre, Kasuva Village, Pakkam Post, near Thirunindravur, 602024. Participants can send their applications before April 10th to Sevalaya.

Voter awareness campaign

The Indian Organisation for Developmental Action (INODA) volunteers promoted voter awareness in Mylapore by assisting street captains to display voters' list in each street

They took it to the Nageswara Rao Park on Sunday, where walkers were able to see if their name were on the voters' list, by checking it in the CD in the laptop which was kept in the van.
