Two killed in separate road accidents in city

Chennai: A traffic sub-inspector travelling on his motorcycle was fatally hit by an MTC bus near Elephant Gate on Sunday.

Mallikeswaran, a resident of Madhavaram and a sub-inspector attached to the Thiruvottiyur police station, was killed on the spot. The driver of the bus, Devendra Rao, was arrested.

Munireddy (45), owner of a fire wood depot in Puzhal, was killed when his two-wheeler was hit by a van near the RTO office in Red Hills on Saturday. Pirated VCDs worth over Rs. 1 lakh were seized from a youth in Avadi. A special team had been carrying out checks in Mogappair-Avadi areas after reports of pirated VCDs from Pondicherry being traded there.
