Government urged to ask for more time to file affidavit

BANGALORE: Leaders of Anjuman-e-Islam of Hubli have urged the Government to seek a month's time from the Supreme Court to file an affidavit on a solution to the Idgah Maidan issue in that city.

They gave the suggestion at separate meetings with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda.

The team was led by former Minister and Congress leader A.M. Hindasgeri.

The Supreme Court has directed the Government to work out a solution. The former Railway minister C.K. Jaffer Sharief attended the meeting with the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, former Minister S.R. Morey has blamed the decision taken by the Government to convert the Idgah Maidan into a park and make changes in the affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court by the previous Government, for the issue becoming complicated. Mr. Morey had held talks with the parties concerned as a Minister in the previous Government.
