Tamil Nadu - Chennai

Offline marketplace for everything except fauna

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Do you think it's time your mother made some money from her fabulous sambhar rice? How about that catchy tune your cousin composed on her violin?

City Shandy is set to become a marketplace where people can come together to sell, swap and show off their wares or talents. C. Prema Kumar from Soroptimist International of Chennai came up with the idea when she found people with wares to sell but nowhere to sell them. As there is no registration, anyone with anything to sell is welcome.

Soroptimist International is a non-profit organisation. They will co-sponsor City Shandy along with Madras Seva Sadan on Harrington Road, which will serve as the venue. The event will be held every first Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To participate, contact Shanmugam on the premises on any working day from 10 a.m. to 12 noon or call 044 - 28363403 / 04. Or just show up at the venue when the event is on.

Participants will be provided a table and two chairs. No livestock or other animals or birds can be sold at the venue.
