21 per cent rise in FACT production in 2005-06

The Cochin Division had record production of sulphuric acid

KOCHI: Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) has recorded a 21 per cent increase in fertiliser production during the financial year just ended compared to 2004-05. Total fertilizer production at the company stood at 9,18,888 tonnes compared to the 7,61,352 tonnes during 2004-05, said a press release here on Wednesday.

Total production of factamfos during the period was 7.45 lakh tonnes compared to the 5.60 lakh tonnes in the previous financial year.

The Cochin Division of FACT also had record production of sulphuric acid with a total output of 3.80 lakh tonnes as against the previous year's level of 3.31 lakh tonnes. Phosphoric acid production, at 87,000 tonnes, touched a new peak during the year under review. The production of phosphoric acid in the previous fiscal was 69,600 tonnes.

Factamfos production at the Cochin Division in the second half of the last financial year was at an all-time high. The production achieved was 3.51 lakh tonnes against the previous high of 3.27 lakh tonnes in the second half of 2001-02, the press release added.
