It is now the time for entrance tests

Summer time is examination time with the common entrance tests for professional and post-graduate courses spread over the months of May and June. And the season this year has just began with most of the universities coming out with the schedule of entrance tests.

Osmania University

Application forms for entrance tests to various post graduate courses of Osmania University will be available at the Osmania University Press and University College for Women, Koti.

The last date for submission of applications without late fee is May 4 while with a late fee of Rs. 100 applications can be submitted till May 10. The university will receive the applications till May 15 with a late fee of Rs. 300. Applications will be available till May 15. They can also be obtained by post from Director, Osmania University Press, Hyderabad - 500007 by sending a demand draft for Rs 35 in favour of the Director, OU Press, along with a self-addressed envelope (size 10x14 inches) with postal stamps worth Rs. 47 affixed on it. The detailed notification is available on university website: www.osmania.ac.in.

SV University

Sri Venkateswara University will be conducting its common entrance test (SVUCET-2006) for admission into postgraduate courses on May 2.

From the academic year 2006-07, the varsity is offering seven new courses in MA, including courses cine and television arts, human development, Gandhian Studies and Mass Communication and journalism, for admission into which any graduate can apply. Nano-materials and technologies, bio-informatics, remote sensing & disaster management are among the new courses offered in M.Sc.

Applications will be available in Andhra Bank main branches at Chittoor, Nellore, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur and also at all the e-seva centres in Chittoor district. Aspirants from other regions can write to the Directorate of Admissions, SV University for getting the applications by post. The last date for sale and receipt of applications is April 15, while the same will be accepted up to April 25 with a fine of Rs.200.

Sri Padmavati University

Admissions into Sri Padmavati Women's University will be based on the marks scored in the qualifying examination as no entrance test is separately conducted for the courses offered by the University. The process will begin on May 1 and the applications can be had from the varsity office. Details can be had at the website ' www.padmavatiwomen-univ.org' after May 1, 2006.

Nagarjuna University

The sale od applications for courses offered by Nagarjuna University started on March 23 and the cost of the application is Rs. 250. The last date for submitting application forms for all M.Sc. courses, M.Tech, M.A. (English), social work and MA (Journalism and Mass Communication), M.Com., M.Ed. and Master of Tourism and Travel Management is April 17. With a late fee of Rs. 300, applications will be taken till April 24 and till May 1 with a late fee of Rs. 500.

The last date for subjects in M.A. (history, economics, applied economics, Buddhist studies, political science, public administration, rural development, Sanskrit, sociology, Telugu, Hindi, human resource management) and LLM is May 15. With late fee of Rs. 300, they can be submitted till May 22 and till May 29 with late fee of Rs. 500.

SK University

Sri Krishnadevaraya University here has issued notification for SKUCET-2006 for admission into various post graduate courses in the university campus, its PG Centre at Kurnool and select affiliated colleges.Applications can be obtained by post from the Director, Directorate of Admissions, by drawing crossed demand draft in favour of the Director for Rs. 200 and a self-addressed envelop with Rs. 30 postage stamps.

The sale of applications commenced on March 25 and it will continue till April 22.

The last date of submission of applications is April 29 and the entrance tests would commence from May 15.

Applications can also be had from Head Post Offices at major towns in Anantapur, Kurnool, Kadapa, Chittoor and Nellore districts. Details can be had on http://skuniv.ap.ni.in/skucet06 and www.electronicsku.into/skucet06.

University of Hyderabad

The university from this year is offering a five-year integrated course open for students clearing their Intermediate apart from the regular P.G., M.Phil and Ph.D. courses. Applications will be given from April 12 to May 11. Application forms can be obtained from the University's Gachibowli campus or the Golden Threshold campus in Nampally against cash payment. It can also be downloaded from the university's website.

The last date for receiving requisitions for issue of prospectus-cum-application forms by post is May 6 while the last date for submission of forms is May 11. The entrance test will be held from June 2 to 7 at various centres in the country including Hyderabad, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam. Further details can be had on www.uohyd.ernet.in.

Andhra University

The last date for submission of applications for admission into various PG and diploma courses offered by Andhra University and its affiliated colleges is April 10. Students can submit the applications with a late fee of Rs. 500 till April 17 and with a late fee of Rs.1,000 till May 10.

Applications and information brochure can be obtained from the Principals of AU College of Arts and Commerce and AU College of Science and Technology in Visakhapatnam; the special officers of AU Dr. B.R. Ambedkar PG Centre at Etcherla in Srikakulam district, AU M.S. Naicker PG Centre at Kakinada in East Godavari district and the Principal/Coordinators of AU Study Centres at Government College, Rajahmundry, Sir C.R.R. College, Eluru, Prabhas Degree College, Vijayawada and A.C. College, Guntur.
