Management student killed in road accident

BANGALORE: A 20-year-old girl was killed when the vehicle she was riding was knocked down by a lorry on Hebbal Ring Road on Tuesday evening.

Police said Prathiba, a student of MBA first year, was returning to her house in Banasawadi from work when the accident occurred. She fell on a kerb stone and suffered bleeding injuries on her head and died on the spot, police said.

Knocked down

A 55-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was knocked down by a car on Ramana Maharshi Road in Sadashivanagar police station limits on Tuesday. The police gave the name of the deceased as Markandeya, a construction worker, of Mathikeri.

Police said Markandeya was going to work when the car hit him from behind. He died on the spot. The driver of the car sped away, police said.

Drowned

A 15-year-old student of Jnanabodini School drowned in Dubasipalya lake in Kengeri police station limits on Tuesday morning. The body of the student was recovered in the evening.

According to police, Deepak and his friend went to the lake for swimming. While Deepak drowned, his friend managed to come to the shore. Deepak's friend immediately informed the police. The police took the help of some swimmers to locate the body.

Dies

Anjanappa (60) of Saadappannapalya died reportedly after consuming spurious liquor in Nandagudi police station limits on Monday night.

According to police, Anjanappa purchased three sachets of liquor and consumed two of them. It was in the night that his family members found him dead. In a complaint, Venkataramana, Anjanappa's brother, has said that the death of his brother was because of spurious liquor. The police are awaiting the report of the autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.
