They wanted him to be immortal

MYSORE: Such was the influence and hold of Dr. Rajkumar, the colossus of Kannada cinema on the masses in Karnataka that they never wanted to see him die on screen.

In "Bhakta Prahalada," released in the late 1970's, Rajkumar as ``Hiranyakashyapu'' is killed by Lord Narasimha.

In theatres those days, this scene was taken off the film to avoid public wrath. A strict disciplinarian and a yoga buff, the veteran actor never smoked or drank on any scene in films. — PTI
