Back Cabinet clears Indo-US aviation pact

New Delhi, April 18

The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement that is to be an umbrella agreement between India and the US. The agreement provides for assistance by the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) in developing and modernising civil aviation infrastructure in managerial, operational and technical areas. The agreement covers diverse areas including providing technical managerial expertise in developing, improving and operation of civil aviation infrastructure, standards, procedures and equipment apart from providing training for civil aviation personnel.

In addition, the inspection and calibration of Indian civil aviation equipment and air navigation facilities and assistance in airport certification is also included in the agreement.
