Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in Santhosh Nagar, Rajeswari Nagar, Gurusamy Nagar, B.T.Nagar and Gerugambakkam of Porur, part of west and north Madha streets in Royapuram and K.K. Nagar, Ashok Nagar, West Mambalam, parts of Guindy, Ekkatuthangal and MGR Nagar in K.K.Nagar S.S. area. between 9 a.m and 5 p.m on Friday.

BSNL bill collection centre

BSNL has opened an additional collection centre at Kellys Telephone exchange premises for payment of telephone bills. Customers can pay their landline and cellone bills either by cash or by cheque in the Centre. The counter will function from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a one-hour break from 1 to 2 p.m.

Free Sanskrit classes

Samskrita Bharati, an NGO working to revive Sanskrit language and bring it back to its status as a live spoken language is conducting free spoken Samskritam classes all over Chennai as part of their Sibira Maala project. The 10 day classes will be started at Anugraham Classes, Manickam Street, West Mambalam, Chennai, from April 21 to 30. Workshop for teachers

The Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre in collaboration with Sri Krishna Sweets is organising a workshop for school teachers on April 24 on hands-on experience in science teaching from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for science teachers. The programme is part of the `Naalthorum Nallathu Seivom,' project of Sri Krishna Sweets. Teacher participants will be admitted on a first-cum-first-served basis. Contact 2441 0025.

School's gesture

The St. Aloysius Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Choolai is organising a function on Friday for installation of road barricades at both ends of the General Collins Road, to prevent heavy vehicles from plying to and fro, causing risk to the students of six schools on the road. Bail plea rejected

Royapuram Mano, the Congress candidate for R.K. Nagar seat was remanded to three-day police custody on Wednesday. The XIII Metropolitan Magistrate Ramanathan passed the order on a petition filed by the Anna Salai police in connection with the violence on the Sathyamurthy Bhavan premises. Mr. Mano surrendered before the police on April 17 pursuant to a HC order directing him to report to the Anna Salai police after filing his nominations. Meanwhile, the Principal Sessions Court here dismissed Mr. Mano's bail application.
