The United Kingdom Government has announced that all international students who start a full-time M.Sc. programme in September 2006 will be allowed to stay in the country for one year after they graduate, in order for them to work. From May 1 this year, the Science and Engineering Graduates Scheme (SEGS) is being expanded to make all postgraduate students eligible for the scheme, regardless of the subject they had chosen. All students eligible under the scheme will be able to work in the U.K for up to 12 months. The changes will only affect those who commence their eligible course in the U.K. on or after May 1, 2006. They will not affect those already studying their Masters or Ph.D in the U.K. The current lists of the eligible students for SEGS is valid until April 2007. According to the official website (http://www.workingintheuk. gov.uk), SEGS began in October 2004.
